‘Pretty resilient’ Richmond girls nearly knock off Knob Noster

RICHMOND – Varsity girls basketball coach Chad Snyder saw his Spartans almost pull off a comeback victory Feb. 19 against visiting Knob Noster. Trailing 42-28 in the third quarter, the Spartans staged a 16-3 run to make it a one-point ballgame, 45-44, entering the fourth quarter. Richmond fought to keep it close before dropping the Missouri River Valley Conference East Division meeting 63-53. “That’s one of the things I (have) got to say for our girls – they’re pretty resilient and they don’t give up,” Snyder said. “So that’s definitely something positive to build on … heading into next year, for sure.” Making the third-quarter surge “felt really good,” freshman guard Sydney Appleberry said. “We thought we really had a chance (to win),” she said. Appleberry was among three Spartans who scored in double figures.
