Last-minute NHC vs. NHC scrimmage ends in a tie

HARDIN – An 11th-hour cancellation of an Oct. 16 road meeting with Northwest of Hughesville/Sacred Heart left Norborne Hardin-Central without a team to play. So the Aggies decided to play each other. About 150 fans watched the Aggies play a Friday night, split-squad, 8-man football scrimmage at Hardin-Central. NHC varsity coach Kirk Thacker compared the event to the fall equivalent of the spring intra-squad games staged by college football programs, like the Black & Gold Spring Game at Mizzou; or high school events like the Red and White Game, the annual preseason scrimmage staged by Richmond, where Thacker graduated in 1987. In NHC’s case, however, the Black and White Game would probably be a more fitting name, given the team’s colors.
