Hardin-Central softballers take fourth at Norborne tourney

NORBORNE – A first-inning hiccup aside, Hardin-Central coach Brandee Doyle could not complain much about how her Bulldogs played to cap the Norborne Invitational Softball Tournament. The Bulldogs committed a few errors to start their third-place game with Braymer/Breckenridge, Doyle said. But overall, they “were solid” in the 7-1 Oct. 3 loss on the Norborne school campus, she said. “Bats could’ve been a little bit better for us,” Doyle said. “We were leaving people on base. But I’m still pretty pleased with how they played that game.” Junior pitcher Abby McNelly was pleased, too. “It was just the first inning that hurt us,” McNelly said. “But … we still fought till the end for everything.” The Bulldogs put themselves in position to give the Bobcats a fight by going 1-1 in pool play to reach the thirdplace game.
