Hardin-Central girls tumble at home to replacement foe

HARDIN – Varsity girls basketball coach Morgan Bishop and her Bulldogs had little prep time for an unexpected opponent. Hardin-Central was slated to face Braymer on Dec. 5 to complete play in the Gallatin Invitational Tournament. With the annual tournament structured in a round-robin format and games played at multiple sites because of COVID-19 concerns – rather than in the usual bracket format, with all games played at Gallatin – the Bulldogs were slated to host the Bobcats. But Braymer, a Class 1 basketball program like Hardin-Central, had to cancel. Carrollton, a Class 3 program like Richmond, made a Dec. 5 trek along Missouri Highway 10 to Hardin-Central instead, cruising past the Bulldogs 58-28. “We only had about two practices – they were morning practices – before I knew for sure who it’d be,” Bishop said. “Morning practices are rough.” Overall, the Bulldogs did well against the Trojans, considering the 11th-hour schedule change, junior post player Morgan Finley said. “Our…
