Focused Richmond girls rout Lexington
LEXINGTON – Richmond pulled away from Lexington in a hurry when the teams met Feb. 12 in Missouri River Valley Conference East Division varsity girls basketball action.
The Spartans led 8-2 after one quarter and 26-4 at halftime en route to a 43-20 victory. It was their third double-digit victory over the Minutewomen this season. Richmond won the first meeting 44-25 Dec. 9 in the Husker Classic at Lafayette County of Higginsville and the second one 51-34 Jan. 22 at Richmond. “Hat goes off to the girls,” Richmond xcoach Chad Snyder said. “We came out pretty focused tonight. … We talked about coming out (focused) from the tip, because we’ve been having some slow starts, and I thought we started out pretty well tonight.”
Sophomore guard Haylee Weber and junior Emmalea Kilpatrick – who paced Richmond with 15 and 10 points, respectively – agreed.
“I thought we came out ready to play,” Weber said. “We got told to be ready from the start. And we were.”
