Seniors end season

RICHMOND JUNIOR Kain Pierson beats the throw to second by sliding in head-first during the Spartans’ season-ending loss to Lawson on Monday in the Class 3 District 16 Tournament at Lathrop.

LATHROP – Richmond coach Brandon Quick summed up his experience of coaching the six seniors on his varsity baseball team this season with a single word: “Fun.”

The fun times ended on the ball diamond for Quick and his seniors with a 5-2 loss to Lawson on Monday at Lathrop High School in the Class 3 District 16 Tournament semifinals. The game ended the high school baseball careers for seniors Erik Beasley, Clayton Coldwell, Brendan Gant, Nathan McGill, Gaven Oldham and Calvin Swafford. McGill accounted for one of Richmond’s three hits.
