Chillicothe loss gives Richmond girls measuring stick
LAWSON – Richmond saw the type of varsity girls basketball team it wants to be during Tuesday night’s 73-13 loss to Chillicothe in the Barker Center in first-round Lawson Invitational action.
“They’re an excellent ball team,” Richmond coach Chad Snyder said.
Junior Emmalea Kilpatrick and freshman Sydney Appleberry, Richmond’s co-scoring leaders with four points apiece, agreed.
“They definitely work together well,” Kilpatrick said. “They can shoot a lot better than we can. They’re bigger and … they flow together.”
“They were able to work together in (their) passing,” Appleberry said. “And then, they were really good shooters.”
Chillicothe excels at any facet of the game a person can name, Snyder said.
“They’re tough on defense,” he said. “They’re quick, and if you give them an open shot, they’re going to hit it. … And they do a good job of finding open shooters; and they do a good job – once somebody hits one – of going back to that person who’s hot. They do a lot of things…
