’Cats ‘knock off the cobwebs’ at camp

On July 26, Orrick coach Kirk Thacker and his Bearcats headed to the upper northwest corner of Missouri to prep for the varsity 8-man football season. That day, the Bearcats participated in a multiteam camp at Tarkio, hosted by East Atchison High School. Overall, the camp went “very well,” Thacker stated. “(I) got to see a lot of things we were good at and some places we need work,” he stated July 27 via text message. “Lots of reps for the boys, and live hitting is always good to knock off the cobwebs.” The multiteam camp followed a four-day, single-team camp at Orrick. The Bearcats were “all business” for that camp, Thacker said July 24 on Orrick’s practice field. “There’s a time for telling jokes and having fun, and at this time, it’s not it,” he said. The 2023 season fueled the approach to the single-team camp, Thacker suggested. It also has fueled summer training in general and is fueling the team’s approach to this season.
