Solomon Branson wanted to reclaim his school javelin record. And he did.

In 2017, Branson set the Richmond boys javelin record. Thursday, during the Bill Hamann Invitational at Lexington High School, the junior thrower watched freshman teammate Hayden Crist break his record by throwing 131 feet, 8 inches. Branson responded by throwing 143-3 – good for second place.

“I just went out there, gave my all,” Branson said. “(I) just launched bombs.”
