Thank you for the coverage of my work on HB 1065 No Excuse Absentee voting being debated in the Missouri General Assembly. I would like to clear up some possible confusion brought up by your readers who have contacted me regarding the difference between early voting and no-excuse absentee voting. An Early Voting Commission was formed around 2013/2014 by then-Secretary of State Jason Kander. I was honored to be selected to be on this commission as the Carroll County clerk, along with a panel of former state lawmakers, attorneys, private citizens and other colleagues that served as election authorities throughout the state. We were tasked to study the merits of early voting and evaluate what would be the best way to go about this idea.
