To the Editor: For the last decade, it has been frustrating to see how our congressional vote no longer matters and we lack representation in the U.S. House of Representatives. The 5th Congressional District has been solidly Democratic since 1948 and there is virtually no chance that will change any time soon. Emanuel Cleaver II is an embedded member of the Democratic Party that has become a party of urban elitists controlled by the interests and values of areas dominated by large urban centers (primarily on the East and West coasts). He votes in the interests of the Democratic Party not Missourians, especially rural Missourians. His benediction at the opening session of Congress was not a prayer but a not-so-veiled partisan rant that he topped off with “Amen, awoman.” For a “reverend” to utter those words is sacrilege.
