The Richmond News, April 21, 2023

Terry Lynn Brown, 59, of Richmond passed away April 12, 2023, peacefully in her home, surrounded by family and friends. Terry was born on May 19, 1963, in Kansas City, Kan., at Providence Hospital to Joyce JoAnn Kerley and Herbert Maurice Land. In 1990, she met the love of her life, David William Brown. They were married on July 4, 2004.

Terry was the kind friend you could stop by any time of the day, pull up a chair and have a cup of coffee with! She was always up for a great conversation. She would always be straightforward with her thoughts and would never hesitate to tell you the truth, even if it was not what you wanted to hear.

Terry was always with her family and her family could always call for her advice. The weekends would always bring a house full of family and good food. Her fried chicken was amazing. She took after her grandmother and never let you go home hungry, as long as you washed your hands.

She is survived by her husband, David William Brown, of Richmond.

Additional survivors include her brother, Gordon Land of Kansas City, Kan.; sister, Gina Kanan of Basehor, Kan.; sister, Gloria and husband Eric Griffith of Basehor, Kan.; and brother, Gary Land of Kansas City, Kan.

Terry was a dedicated mother to her children, all six of them, and she treasured every moment she spent with them. She was a loving mother of Tisha Hartwig and husband Michael, Elizabeth Conchola and husband Michael, Christian Brown and wife Amy, Melissa Johnson, Brandon Roberts and wife Amanda, and Gavin Roberts.

She especially loved her role as grandmother to 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Most of all, she will be dearly missed by her grandchildren: Brian Harris, Chandler Myers, Caden Russ, Ruby Dawson, Bailey Brown, Hunter Russ, Hailey Harris (Ken Coty), Ricky Russ, Allie Reynolds, Stacie Reynolds, William Keesee and Bradlie Roberts.

She also took extreme pride in her great-grandchildren: Estella Rose, Remmy Brown, Lylah Coty and Kentyn Coty.

Terry will always be fondly remembered in the hearts of family and friends as a loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother!

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Terry Brown Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

A memorial visitation was held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, April 19, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Inurnment also will be held at a later date.
