Richard Edward “Bud” Stanton, 86, of Richmond passed away on Friday, June 30, 2023, at Golden Age Nursing Home in Braymer. Bud was born on Nov. 7, 1936, in Lost Nation, Iowa, the son of Earl and Erma (Kuhlmann) Stanton. He was first united in marriage to Maurine Elaine Bock of Nashville, Iowa, on Nov. 3, 1956. They later divorced. He was then united in marriage to Karen L. McKee of Richmond on June 26, 1982. She survives of the home.

Additional survivors include: her son, Kenny Stanton and his wife Carrie of Scotch Grove, Iowa; daughter, Debbie Taylor and her husband Roger of Baldwin, Iowa; son-in-law, Kenny Derganz of Maquoketa, Iowa; daughter, ReDeana Arth (Daniel Nielson) of Richmond; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; sister, Lola DeMoss of Lost Nation; and his closest and best buddy, Claude Vanover.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Linda Derganz; and sister, Anna Mae Gerst.

Bud was reared and educated in the area of his birth. He first worked hauling livestock in the area of his birth, then moved in 1970 to Richmond, where he worked for the Bob Vandiver Cattle Co. for 48 years until he retired.

Bud enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandkids and going to the casino. He was wellloved, even by his in-laws. Bud and his wife helped many young people get back on their feet.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Richard Edward “Bud” Stanton Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

A visitation was held 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 6, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. Inurnment will be at a later date in Cravens Cemetery, south of Richmond.
