Leona Mae Love, 93, Richmond, died Tuesday, July 2, 2019, at Shirkey Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Leona was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Camden, the daughter of Mark and Mary (Sharp) Stonner. She was united in marriage to Hoey Yuel Love of Richmond, on June 30, 1946; he preceded her in death Jan. 14, 2014.

Survivors include one son, Donald (Nicki) Love of Columbia; one daughter, Carol (Johnny) Daniel of Excelsior Springs; four grandchildren, John Love, Barbara (Jonny) Baki, June Love, Tanya (Jason) Fleming and Nathan Daniel; three great-grandchildren, Jonathan Love, Ryder Fleming and Addison Fleming; and one great-great-grandson, Jaxson Baki.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; two brothers, Robert Stonner and F.D. Stonner; and one sister, Betty Gray.

Leona grew up and was educated in the area of her birth, graduating from Camden High School. Besides being a housewife and homemaker, she was a familiar face at Economy Drug in Richmond, where she worked for many years. Leona was a seamstress and loved to sew. She also enjoyed baking and made the best pies. She was a loving, caring mother, wife and grandmother. Leona was a member of the Richmond United Methodist Church and the Order of the Eastern Star for over 50 years.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Shirkey Hospice. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 E. Main St. – P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m., Monday, July 8, 2019, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond. There will be an Order of the Eastern Star service at noon with visitation until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow services in Richmond Memory Gardens.
