Johnnie Robert O’Dell, 50, Buckner, entered the eternal gates of heaven June 28, 2019.

Johnnie was born Jan. 9, 1945, in Richmond, to Raymond and Ida O’Dell. Johnnie was a member of the Hickory Grove Baptist Church.

He owned and operated O’Dell and Sons, LLC and drove for Vance Brothers for 13 years.

Johnnie was a friend to everyone and welcomed everyone into his heart or home. Johnnie loved to cook, grill and bring his loved ones together for a delicious meal. He had a big personality and always had a smile for everyone he met.

He married Theresa Ann O’Dell on Dec. 24, 1999. He was a loving father to his two sons, Jacob O’Dell and Dayton O’Dell, and an amazing stepfather to son, Robert Allee; daughter, Ashley Vinson, and a loving and devoted baby brother to his five siblings.

His greatest joy was being “papa” to his six grandchildren, Carson O’Dell, Beau O’Dell, Makayla O’Dell, Cade Vinson, Ryan Allee and Harper Allee.

Johnnie is survived by his wife, Theresa O’Dell, of the home; sons Jacob O’Dell (Ashley) of Higginsville; and Dayton O’Dell (Gairin) of the home; stepson Robert Allee (Stephany) of Wellington; stepdaughter, Ashley Vinson (Steven), of Wellington; six grandchildren, Carson O’Dell, Beau O’Dell, Makayla O’Dell, Cade Vinson, Ryan Allee, and Harper Allee. He is also survived by his sisters, Kimberly Mace (Bobby) and Karry Fields (Matt), both of Richmond; brother Rex O’Dell and many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and his Vance Brothers family.

Johnnie is preceded in death by his parents; brothers Clint O’Dell and Jerry O’Dell; nieces, Lori O’Dell, Cherrie O’Dell and Chana O’dell; nephews, Austin O’Dell, Daylon O’Dell, Travis O'Dell and sister-in-law, Diana O’Dell.

The family will host a celebration of life with visitation at 2 p.m., Saturday, July 6, at the Community Christian Center in Wellington, followed by services at 3 p.m., and a potluck dinner at 4 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the O’Dell in care of the Wellington Community Christian Center, 710 W. 224 Highway, Wellington MO 64097.
