Gladys Fern “Judy” Turnage, 90, of Knoxville, died Wednesday, Oct. 28, 2020, at Meyer Care Center in Higginsville.

Gladys was born on July 2, 1930, in Hardin, the daughter of Victor and Nora (Hedrick) Williams. She was united in marriage to Loren Brown Turnage of Rayville on April 12, 1952. He preceded her in death on Jan. 9, 2019.

Survivors include: four sons: Dennis (Lora) Turnage of Orrick, Louis (Susan) Turnage of Peyton, Colorado, Victor (Joyce) Turnage of Centerton, Arkansas, and Gregory Turnage of Nampa, Idaho; one daughter: Dawn (Donald) Simpson of Higginsville; 10 grandchildren: Justin Turnage; Trent (Christi) Turnage, Louis Turnage II, Christina Ayala (Vince Howard), David Turnage (Frances Michels), Chantel (Mark) Beall, Matthew (Stephanie) Turnage, Denise (Steven) Livingston, Nathan Turnage, and Letha (Travis) Sadler; 17 great-grandchildren: Jeremy Turnage, Emma Turnage, Elli Turnage, Jesse Turnage, Juan Ayala, Marco Ayala, Jasmine Howard, Ella Turnage, Caelan Beall, Caedmon Beall, Caegan Beall, Carter Turnage, Alexis Turnage, Abigail Livingston, Landon Livingston, Corbin Sadler, Emmalynn Sadler, and one on the way; a sister-in-law, Charlotte Johnson of Richmond; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and many brothers and sisters.

Gladys was reared and educated in Richmond and graduated in 1948 from Richmond High School. She was a member of the Richmond First Baptist Church. Gladys was devoted to her family and church and was a caregiver to all. She will be missed dearly by all her friends and family.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Meyer Care Employee Christmas Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Private family visitation will be held because of COVID-19. Burial will be held at a later date in the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville.
