Edmund Ray “Ed” Wolfe, 76, of Richmond, Missouri, died Tuesday, April 21, 2020, at his home, surrounded by his loving family and friends.

Ed was born on Aug. 18, 1943, at his home in Hardin, Missouri, the son of Edmund Raymond and Leora “Maxine” (Bandy) Wolfe. He was united in marriage to Linda Marie Finke of Richmond on March 24, 1972 in Fullerton, California, at the United Methodist Church.

Ed leaves behind his loving wife, Linda Marie Wolfe of the home; brother, Larry (Arlene) Wolfe of Branson; sister, Teresa (David) Carter of Williamsburg, Virginia; brother-in-law, David (Irene) Finke of Las Vegas, Nevada; nieces and nephews. Chad (Dina) Carter, Melissa (Brad) Foster, Melissa (Eric) Froats, Daniel Finke, Kayla Finke, John (Shelley) Wolfe, Jeff (Stacy) Wolfe, Matt Wolfe, Abby Smith, Travis Smith and Robert Ward; several great-nieces and nephews, Ava Foster, Brayden Foster, Ethan Carter, Max Carter, Kaitlyn Wolfe, Kyle Wolfe, Gage Smith, Mackenzie Smith, Taylor Smith and Teegan Shannon; and great-great-niece, Eve Szabelski.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant children, Christopher Ray and Jennifer Marie Wolfe.

Ed was reared and educated in the area of his birth and graduated from the Hardin Central High School in 1961. He then attended the Conservatory of Music in Kansas City and went on to Draugon’s Business College, also in Kansas City.

Ed’s work history consisted of a car salesman, Helzberg Diamond assistant manager, then manager at several Helzberg locations. He was a business owner in Richmond at Wolfe’s Hearing Aids and Jewelry for 40 years. Ed was also a fee agent for the state of Missouri license bureau for 15 years.

Ed was an active community member and involved in many civic duties. He was in city, county and state politics and a strong member of the Republican Party from 1970-2020. Ed faithfully served Ray County as the chairman of the Ray County Republicans Central Committee. He is a major reason why Ray County is now served by many Republican and effective conservative officeholders. Ed served as chairman of the Mayor Advisory Committee and was on the Planning and Zoning Commission. He was instrumental in hiring the first full time professional city administrator.

Ed was choir director for the Richmond Christian Church in the ’70s and ’80s. He was involved in and supported the Richmond and Hardin communities, he mentored many young men throughout the years, and was known for his beautiful voice; he sang for many funerals.
