Beverly Jane Wright, 62, of Polo, died Thursday, April 18, 2019, at her residence in Polo.

Beverly was born Nov. 24, 1956, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Lloyd and Dorthea “Betty” Mildred (Gile) Vinzant. She was previously married to Gerald “Pete” Young and they had one child. She was united in marriage to Richard Wright of Polo on July 12, 1990. He survives of the home.

Beverly grew up in Chicago and lived in Commerce City, Colorado, and Deepwater, Missouri, before moving to the Polo area 30 years ago. She was a housewife and homemaker. She also worked outside of the home as a cook and bartender. 

She loved exotic cats, especially her cat, Mitzy. Beverly loved her family, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and especially Granny B’s sweet pea.

Additional survivors include: two sons,  Clint (Andrea) Young of Warrensburg, and Scott (Shawn) Wright of Independence; a daughter, Allison (Dave) Alfano of Portland, Oregon; a brother, Bob (Tammy) Vinzant of Independence; four granddaughters, Zyann Young, Rachel (Josh) Brown, Cerin (Cody) Oliphant and McKenna Wright; and seven great-grandchildren, Gracie, Carter, Avery, Piper, Jrayton, Aiden and Asher.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

The family suggests memorial contributions to Richmond VFW Post 4398 or to Turpentine Creek in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home, 507 E. Main St. – P.O. Box 190, Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation will be from 6 to 7 p.m., Wednesday, April 24, 2019, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, followed by a memorial service. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Missouri State Veteran’s Cemetery in Higginsville. Online condolences may be left at thurmanfuneralhome.com.
