Arthur Clark

Arthur Benton Clark, 66, of Richmond passed away Monday, March 18, 2024, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Arthur was born Dec. 18, 1957, in Richmond, the son of John “Jay” Willis and Helen May (Cox) Clark. Survivors include his four sons, Levi Benton Clark of Richmond, Chase W. Shipley of North Kansas City, Monty (Kelli) Bowman of Henrietta and Jason Ellis of Richmond; daughter, Stacy Ellis of Liberty; and five grandchildren, Anastasia Ellis, Sierra Ellis, Haley (Ryan) Steele, Austin Bowman and Aiden Bowman. Other survivors include four great-grandchildren; and four sisters, Arlene R. Darnell (Stan) Karr of Independence, Helen L. Whitworth of Texas, Nancy E. Baker of Richmond and June R. (Bill) Whitworth of Osceola. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, John W. Clark Jr. and Dennis “Yogi” Clark; three sisters, Darla Jean Clark, Judy Clark and Joyce Clark; and nephew, James Wesley Darnell.

Arthur was reared and educated in the area of his birth and attended Richmond High School.

He was a member of IUPA District Council Local 13. Arthur was a kind, loving and giving man. All you had to say was, “I need help,” and he was there.

He has many siblings that love him very much. Arthur’s children were his world. His grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his blessings. He was one of a kind and had a heart as big as the world. There will never be another one like him.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Arthur Benton Clark Memorial Fund. They can be left at or mailed to Thurman Funeral Home; 507 E. Main St.-P.O. Box 190; Richmond, MO 64085.

Visitation and funeral services were scheduled for Thursday, March 21, at Thurman Funeral Home in Richmond, with visitation beginning at 5 p.m., followed by services at 6. Inurnment will be held at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery, Braymer.
