PARKING at times is no problem on the square in downtown Richmond, but on other days, spaces in front of stores are filled, and not always by customers. Often, people park in business spaces without any plan to shop, adding to the frustration of downtown business owners who are trying to make a living. At this point, there are no “no parking” signs downtown.

RICHMOND – Downtown Richmond businesses cannot control parking access and some non-customers take advantage by parking for hours, sometimes all day, in storefront spaces.

Richmond Chamber of Commerce Director Natalie Lamar said parking is a problem for downtown businesses and customers. She defined “problem” in plain terms.

“Businesses do leave the downtown area because of this,” Lamar said.
