In celebration of National Women’s History Month, the Ray County Genealogical Association (RCGA) member and historian Jarodd Stansberry presented information about Susan Anna “Susie” White of Ray County. In 1915, Susie was the first woman in Ray County history to hold public office. Women’s History Month is a celebration of women’s contributions to history, culture and society and has been observed annually in March in the United States since 1987, according to history.com Women’s History Month is important because it gives people a chance to recognize the history, accomplishments and importance of women in our world.
