HARDIN – Hardin-Central School District Superintendent Trey Cavanah issued this notice to district patrons...

In the event that the Hardin-Central School District issues a self-imposed suspension of school in response to the COVID-19 virus, the following will be the course of action:

1. H-C students will still be able to participate in the H-C food service program. Sack lunches will be prepared and delivered via bus routes (five hours later than the usual morning bus routes) to students who wish to have a lunch. For example, if your student was scheduled to be picked up on the morning route at 7:05 a.m., you can expect a bus delivering sack lunches to be there around 12:05 p.m during the suspension from school. at the H-C Elementary door from We will also have a pick-up point 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., for those children wishing to participate that aren’t at their normal bus route locations. Included in the sack lunch would also be a breakfast item for the following morning.

2. All school sponsored activities and events will be postponed during the self-imposed suspension. This would include spring athletic practices and events, academic clubs and other school-sponsored events. Any facility use agreements with outside organizations would be void for the length of the suspension.

3. The campus would be closed to the public during this time, as a focus to clean and disinfect surfaces and rooms would be underway. Only staff members, and those picking up sack lunches would be permitted.

4. Students who are enrolled in the virtual school, dual-credit would still be expected to complete courses and launch online courses their coursework online in accordance with the course syllabus for that class and/or university.

5. Updates and developments would be communicated with students, parents and patrons via our Bulldog text alert system and the district website.

6. Our spring school calendar would be greatly affected by an interruption in learning if a suspension from school would occur, especially one that spans weeks. Our teaching staff will attempt to continue the teaching/learning process during a suspension through various means, but there would be many obstacles and challenges during the process. They would need the support of parents in completing some of the teaching/learning tasks.
