RICHMOND – Summer school enrollment is up for Richmond School District, Richmond School District Superintendent Mike Aytes said.

Two things are different this year versus last: free and reduced-price food and transportation.

Enrollment for kindergarten through fifth-grade students surged 38 percent, or 44 students, from 116 in summer 2018 to 160 this year.

Enrollment for sixth- through 12-graders slipped 6.5 percent, or seven students, from 107 last year to 100 this year.
