JEFFERSON CITY — Gov. Mike Parson on Wednesday named a new judge to the circuit that covers St. Louis County.
Richard Stewart, of Webster Groves, takes the place of retired Circuit Judge Maura McShane, Parson said in a news release.
Stewart studied business administration at the University of Missouri-Columbia before earning his Juris Doctor from the Saint Louis University School of Law, according to the release.
Stewart currently serves an Associate Circuit Judge in St. Louis County where he lives with his wife and four children. Former Gov. Jay Nixon appointed Stewart to his post in 2016 after the Legislature created the position.
Prior to his appointment, Stewart practiced at his own firm, focusing on family law and civil litigation.
