JEFFERSON CITY – Representatives from Missouri State Parks invite the public to attend an informational meeting at the Battle of Lexington State Historic Site in Lexington.

The meeting is set to get underway at 6 p.m. Oct. 10 at the visitor’s center.

The public is invited to share comments about the historic site – which highlights the Southern victory over Union troops at the Battle of Lexington, also called the Battle of the Hay Bales. Comments also are expected to focus on site operations during the meeting. Staff members for the historic site will be present to provide information and answer questions from the public.

“Input from the public is important to Missouri State Parks. These informational meetings, which are being held in all state parks and historic sites, help create two-way communication with the public,” information from the state department stated. “The meetings give staff the opportunity to inform the public of the current status and future plans for the park or historic site, while also offering visitors the opportunity to comment on the facilities.”

“The public is strongly encouraged to follow social distancing guidelines and be proactive in protecting themselves and others amid ongoing public health concerns,” the department stated.

Health supplies are not available at the historic site.

“Come prepared with hand sanitizer and bottled water, avoid large and con gested crowds, and please stay home if sick,” department information stated. “Face coverings are encouraged and may be required by local order.”

The Battle of Lexington State Historic Site is at 1101 Delaware St.
