Residential, curbside yard waste pickup gets underway for residents of Richmond

RICHMOND – The city offers curbside yard waste pickup by Heartland Waste to all residential trash customers. The weekly schedule for pick-up will be Monday for residents west of Highway 13 and Wednesday for those east of Highway 13. “We are excited to offer this new service to the citizens of Richmond,” City Administrator Tonya Willim said. “City Council has prioritized beautification through Richmond, and curbside yard waste pickup will make it more convenient for residents to keep their yards beautiful.” Trash rates will go up by $1.50 per month. Trash rates had not increased for eight years. People ages 65 and older can apply for a $2 discount per month. Additionally, optional curbside recycling is available for an additional 50 cents per month and is free for those who are 65 and older. Allowable yard waste that will be picked up curbside includes dry leaves, grass clippings, yard and garden vegetation. Weekly pick up will include up to 10 bio-degradable bags, no plastic, of…
