Ray clerk acts to keep elections safe
RICHMOND – Ray County Clerk Glenda Powell, the county’s chief election official, said she has taken steps to assure the Nov. 3 election is safe from the potential of violence and COVID-19.
People have called her office with worries about being harassed by potential protestors, Powell said.
Whether extra security will be requested has not been determined, she said.
Powell said she has never had an illegal vote cast in an election.
Powell said she is not concerned about mail-in ballots being cast illegally.
“We’ve never had any problems with our postman. They are absolutely wonderful,” she said.
President Trump has for weeks suggested mail-in ballots would lead to voter fraud. Election experts have not found the statement and others like it credible.
