LIBERTY – After Circuit Judge James Van Amburg ruled the Clay County Commission must turn over records commissioners seek to keep secret from Missouri Auditor Nicole Galloway, the commission issued a statement that the ruling did not provide adequate time for appeal.

The commission asked the court for more time to consider an appeal.

On Friday, the court agreed to allow more appeal time.

The commission has maintained Galloway should not have access to records involving county employees.

Galloway has taken the position that she needs access to all records she seeks to conduct the audit more than 9,000 Clay County residents requested by petition in 2018.

Although Galloway has been able to complete audits of other Clay County offices in the 23 months since the countywide audit started in December 2018, court action pursued by the commission has succeeded in preventing Galloway’s efforts to complete the commission audit.
