Mammograms restored

THE FDA restores right to do mammograms to Ray County Memorial Hospital.

RICHMOND – The Ray County Memorial Hospital Radiology Department is accepting appointments for mammograms again after being unable to perform the exams for more than two months.

The hospital discontinued mammograms May 1 because of regulation changes, Liberty Hospital radiologist Dr. Amy Patel said Thursday.

“We have been given permission by the Food and Drug Administration to do mammograms,” Patel said. “We have taken all of the actions they wanted us to take based on the Mammography Quality Standards Act.”
