Henrietta Bridge

THE FLOOD EMERGENCY prompts the Ray County Commission to reopen the closed old Route 13 bridge at Henrietta. The bridge will close again after the emergency, again separating the major north-south route through town, but commissioners say there is a ray of hope for a permanent solution.

RICHMOND – Early in area flooding that has stretched into a third month, Ray County officials agreed to reopen the old Highway 13 bridge at Henrietta on an emergency basis.

The reopening allows people living south of the bridge to move machinery more quickly to higher ground on the north side of the bridge.

The emergency action, as commissioners explained, is temporary. But there is a glimmer of hope for a more permanent solution.
