RICHMOND – Richmond Downtown District relinquished 2019 Richmond Farmers Market management to the city.

The Richmond Farmer's Market returns to the city at 8 a.m., Saturday, May 11, in the city parking lot across from the richmond United Methodist Church.

City Administrator Tonya Willim said if the managing organization stops running the market, then a 2010 ordinance requires the event “to flip back to the city.”

“We have to organize and run it until another organization steps forward to do so,” she said. “We are doing this on short notice to make sure there is a farmers market this year.”

“Our ordinances are extremely outdated, so we will be welcoming all artisans and vendors to the Farmers Market,” Willim said. “We will also amend the ordinance and bring it up to date. A new vendor form will have a space for other types of goods being sold.”
