JEFFERSON CITY – Route J bridge rehabilitation at Crooked River is on the first list of bridges set for work by the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission under a new program approved by the Missouri General Assembly.

The 128th Street bridge over Interstate 35 in Clay County also is on the list.

The commission awarded the Focus on Bridges construction contracts Friday. Fourteen bridges are included in the program for replacement or rehabilitation.

Ray County Commissioner Allen Dale hailed the announcement.

“I took it as a blessing,” he said. “We were so tickled to death to be in the running that we’re just going to approach it in that way.”
