Architect updates school board on ECC project

Updates on the Early Childhood Center (ECC), a project near Dear Elementary, were shared during a recent Richmond R-XVI School District Board meeting. Cam Hinton, a representative with Hollis and Miller Architect, said the construction fencing is up and that Dear Elementary staff will start seeing more action. “You’ve probably already seen activity happening on site. Our current activities primarily include preparing for the upcoming underground work that’ll be happening as we prepare to do those utilities,” Hinton said. The substantial completion date remains Dec. 2, 2024, because the contractor allowed for the unexpected recent snow days. The final completion continues to be the first week in January 2025, he said. Regarding concern over a transplant electrical transformer voiced in the January meeting of the board, Hinton assured the group Evergy would be providing the transformer for the ECC project.
