Richmond’s softball winning streak over Lexington ends

Giving up multi-run innings has hurt Richmond to start the varsity softball season, according to Spartans coach Trent Thompson and pitcher/infielder Elizabeth Wood. Thompson and Wood agreed that was the case Monday, when the Spartans fell to Lexington at Southview Park in Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division action.

Although Ray County Commissioners were advised against the purchase of new property — for supposed placement of a mental health facility and jail — by Ray County Prosecuting Attorney Camille Johnston, other county officials and many residents, the group chose to table the topic rather than doing away with the idea. Water district staffer Jim Richey, Tri-County Mental Health CEO Tom Petrizzo and attendees that were content with their choice on the “land for the mental health and jail” topic and yet, chose to table the topic rather than doing away with the matter.
