Chronic wasting disease (CWD) has been detected among the whitetail deer populations in 31 Missouri counties, including Clay and Ray. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) urges hunters and other area residents to look for diseased animals and advises hunters to be aware of regulations that apply to CWD management areas.

Issues revealed in March continue

Problems with the Ray County Sheriff’s Office’s (RCSO) handling of warrant entries was first brought to light in a March Ray County Commissioners (RCC) meeting. Commissioners were informed of the problem by the Ray County 911 Board, who came to the group seeking solutions. At that time, the agencies agreed to a 90-day testing period to implement new ways to improve the transference of information.
