Volleyballers finish team training, turn to individual workouts
Richmond’s offseason prep volleyball training is finished.
Sort of.
This month, the Spartans held a series of open gymstyle training sessions on Mondays and Wednesdays in the high school gym. Wednesday marked their last time to work out together.
“We were talking about maybe not doing these last two weeks,” new varsity assistant coach Katelyn Jeffers said. “But I’m, like, ‘That’s way too much time off.’” Turnouts averaged between 22 and 24 girls, Jeffers estimated.
“I think, maybe at most, we’ve had probably about 26,” she said after Monday’s session. “But it’s been a really good turnout this summer.”
Overall, the sessions went well, teammates and upperclassmen Addison Burk, Sydnee Burnett, Genevieve Didier and Avory Oliphant agreed.
“We’re getting back,” said Didier, who returns after being sidelined last season because of injuries. “We’re dusting the rust off with each practice.”
