Richmond’s varsity girls basketball squad will get its season underway this week, weather permitting. The girls were slated to kick off the season Monday against Lawson on the road. Per the Richmond R-XVI School District website, the ballgame was postponed. Ditto Tuesday’s Missouri River Valley Conference-East Division opener with visiting Carrollton. At press time, the Spartans were scheduled to face Hardin-Central Thursday at Richmond. Their regularseason schedule also includes the Husker Classic, set for next week at Higginsville, hosted by Lafayette County; a tournament in mid-January, hosted by Lawson; and the Richmond Winter Classic.
