Thompson wants softballers to improve, compete, have fun
For his second season as Richmond varsity softball coach, Trent Thompson wants his Spartans to keep improving from 2023, when they went 2-15.
“I want to continue to try to be competitive … and build on from last year,” Thompson said Aug. 12 at Southview Park, where the Spartans play their home games.
Thompson has something else he wants the Spartans to achieve in 2024.
“My main goal is to have an enjoyable, fun season,” he said. “I mean, that’s the name of the game.”
To help the Spartans achieve that goal, Thompson assures they’ll play “in a positive atmosphere.”
“I think that’s when players play their best,” he said.
As the Richmond News recently reported, Thompson has a new assistant coach as he leads them in their pursuits of improving, competing and having fun – former Richmond pitcher Jaedyn Lopez.
