Tharp, Spartans seek to avenge 2024 loss to Panthers
Wide receiver/defensive back Malikiah Tharp and his Richmond teammates seek to redeem themselves Friday night when they host Knob Noster in Missouri River Valley Conference (MRVC)-East Division varsity 11-man football, he said.
One reason is that Richmond lost to Knob Noster last season, as Tharp pointed out Monday on Richmond’s practice field.
“They were a pretty good team last year,” said Tharp, a junior. “They beat us by, like, two points. It’s pretty upsetting.”
Playing as a co-op with Leeton, Knob Noster defeated Richmond by four points in 2024, Missouri State High School Activities Association records state – 10-6 in Week 8 at Knob Noster.
The Panthers are “still a good team this year,” according to Tharp.
“We’ve got to come back out and compete this year – get our revenge from last year, for sure,” he said.
