Thacker, staff look to tweak Orrick’s attitude, offense during camp
ORRICK – Monday’s varsity 8-man football camp session gave Kirk Thacker, Orrick’s new coach, a sense of some issues he and his staff must address as the Bearcats prepare for the season.
One of those issues is the team’s practice attitude.
“Things were a little loose,” Thacker, a 1987 Richmond High School graduate and the former Norborne Hardin-Central varsity coach, said. “Tightening them up has become a priority.”
Another issue is teaching the Bearcats his “regular offense.” Thacker also has what he calls a “power offense.”
“They love the power offense. My regular offense, which is the … (easier of the two) is what we’re having trouble grasping. So that’s what’s driving me batty right now,” he said. “But the hard one, they’ve got it down pat.”
