Spartans still in search of consistency

HIGGINSVILLE – Richmond’s 0-4 performance in the Husker Spikefest provided a reminder of the importance of consistency, varsity volleyball coach Crystal Turner said. “We can’t sustain play for several points, but then drop, OK?” Turner said. “So we just need to work on staying more consistently at a high level, because we’re only reaching the high level at points.” Senior Savannah Brungardt saw type of behavior during the Sept. 11 tournament at Lafayette County of Higginsville she has seen in the Spartans in other matches this season. “Whenever we score a couple points in a row, we get … really … (hyped) and really excited,” Brungardt said. “And then, we start playing better. If we miss a serve or something, we get down on ourselves – and then, that just drags us (down) the entire … (match).
