Spartans rain treys, maul Panthers

RICHMOND – It did not rain, or sleet or snow, Tuesday night outside Richmond High School. But it rained inside, as in raining three-point baskets. The Spartans drained nine treys in their varsity boys basketball tilt with Knob Noster. Of those, six fell during a 27-13 third quarter that helped Richmond romp to an 81-54 victory. “We always talk about how the threes don’t have to fall, but when the threes are falling for us, it makes things really, really easy,” Richmond coach Kevin Jermain said minutes after the Missouri River Valley Conference East Division win. “It opens up everything else – and when we get that three ball going, it’s pretty fun, because we can pretty much score at all levels when that happens.” Senior Spencer Wolf paced Richmond’s long-range attack with five treys – three of them during the third quarter.
