Richmond volleyballers kick off two-week camp
Kelly Jaggars and Natalie Marrant have their expectations set for Richmond’s varsity volleyball season – and they expect this week’s team camp sessions to help the Spartans meet those goals.
“I really hope to get something on that banner,” Marrant said, referring to the banner for Missouri River Valley Conference East Division and postseason titles in volleyball that hangs in the Richmond High School gym, where camp started with a morning session Monday.
“I really want to put something on the banner, too,” Jaggars said. “But mainly, I want to get a lot more wins than we did last season.”
The Spartans had three wins in 2021 – their first under coach Crystal Turner. Based on what Turner saw Monday, Jaggars, Marrant and their teammates looked “a little bit rusty,” she said.
“We still need to build skills,” Turner said.
On-court communication also needs work, Turner acknowledged.
