Richmond tees off boys golf season with ‘really young’ squad

Richmond coach Murray Dennis’ boys golf roster is filled with newcomers to high school team golf. Some of those newcomers, however, are not golfing novices. Jack Gogue is one such example. The senior is a lifelong golfer who comes from “a golfing family,” he said. Those family members include two state qualifiers for Richmond – Danny Zeller, an uncle; and Maddy Zeller, a sister. According to Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) records, Danny Zeller’s achievements included finishing in a four-way tie for fourth at the 2002 Class 3A state tournament. MSHSAA records also state that Maddy Zeller was a four-time Class 1 state qualifier during the 2010s, placing 73rd in 2012, finishing in a three-way tie for 51st in 2013, finishing in a three-way tie for 68th in 2014 and placing 62nd in 2015.
