Richmond school girls basketball team collect toys

The Richmond middle school and high school basketball girls teams were sitting out on the cold Sunday, Dec.18 for their local toy drive. They served hot chocolate and had cookies available for those who donated toys to their cause. “I think it’s a great thing,” said basketball player Candice Claypole as she sat with her friends outside the high school. “So far, it looks like we’ve been doing pretty well. It seems like we’ve already had quite a few toys donated already,” said Caitlin Claypole, who sat with teammates Natalie Marrant and Kaylee King. All donations are being given to the local Salvation Army for their large toy donations. Pastor of New Beginnings Church, Phillip Powers runs the Salvation Army store and assists with Harvesters Community Food Network. Powers made it clear he was grateful for the lady spartans to donate their time and energy for a greater cause. “It’s amazing to see kids giving back to the community.
