Richmond grapplers honor seniors, sweep triangular, win tourney
RICHMOND – In a few weeks, the Spartans will lose five seniors from their boys wrestling program.
Knowing the end is approaching, the Spartans honored the quintet – Kaleb Burk, Blake Logsdon, Zane Renfro, Wyatt Rice and Conner Teat – Jan. 27 with Senior Night at Richmond High School as part of a triangular with Lafayette County of Higginsville and Polo. The Spartans also staged their mat warming coronation then, with Renfro crowned king and senior Jodi Robinson crowned queen.
The Spartans honored them by sweeping the dual, too, defeating Lafayette County 46-30 and Polo 66-12.
“They’re definitely going to be missed,” coach Cody Hogan said. “But they’re definitely leaving a part of them behind for everyone under them … to learn from them and take things from them. … They’re going to be missed, but they’re not going to be forgotten at all. … The next three weeks while we have them … we (have) got a lot to do with them. … They’re going to leave their legacy behind.”
