Richmond girls are thrilled to hoop it up again

CARROLLTON – Genevieve Didier and her Richmond teammates are happy to be playing summer prep basketball again. “There’s something about summer ball – it’s so much fun,” said Didier, who’ll be a senior this fall. “There’s not as much pressure. We’re just all having fun. And you can definitely tell.” Summer basketball provides other benefits, according to post player Emma Hash. “It’s good to just start early – get our plays, get a little bit of defense, instead of just playing with our own players,” Hash said. “It definitely gives us a head start and just makes us have more chemistry.” Didier and Hash made their comments after Richmond had played two games June 4 in the River Valley Shootout at Carrollton. The Spartans opened against Gilman City, then cruised to a 42-28 win over Meadville. Richmond took control early in defeating Meadville, leading 15-6 after one quarter.
