RHS offers physicals for school sports, related activities

For three hours Monday, Richmond High School was open to Richmond middle schoolers and high schoolers wanting to get cleared to participate in Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA)-sanctioned extracurricular pursuits. Starting at 4 p.m., students passed through a series of rooms to get physicals, priced at $10 per student. The first room was staffed by assistant football coaches Colby Bowers and Zach McGill, who took heights and weights. Getting those stats is important in part because the data monitors students to “make sure they’re growing at the right rate,” according to Bowers. “It can potentially be a red flag to check into some other … (kinds) of stuff, if … any of those measurements are way off,” said Bowers, a Richmond graduate and the son of retired Richmond coach Rob Bowers.
