Brett Terry recently finished what he considers his best season as Richmond’s girls tennis coach. The Spartans finished with their appearance in the Class 1 District 14 Tournament, hosted by Excelsior Springs. In the singles and doubles portion, Livia Cavanah and Hailee Green finished third in doubles, Tayln Teegarden and Taylor McGlothlin fell in the first round of doubles, and Jessie Sisco and Ava Scheible each fell in the first round of singles. In the duals or team portion, the Spartans lost 5-4 to Excelsior Springs. “Tough way to end the season with such a close loss, but (it) shows how we are closing the gap on our opponents,” Terry stated Tuesday via email. “Excelsior Springs plays bigger schools in a better conference and we still kept it as close as we could get.” Terry loses four seniors.
