RHS boys want more after Lawson tourney
For Richmond teammates Dryden Hendrix and Nolan Quick, winning the boys title for this year’s Lawson Invitational was a reminder to stay hungry and humble.
“It’s cool to win this tournament, but we (have) got bigger goals in mind,” said Hendrix, a sophomore, minutes after the Spartans’ 74-59 Jan. 18 win over West Platte in the title game at Lawson High School. “And … we (are) just going to keep going.”
One of those goals is winning the Class 4 District 15 title, Hendrix said. The Spartans are seeking their fourth district title in varsity boys basketball in six seasons. They won the Class 3 District 14 title in 2020, the Class 4 District 16 championship in 2021 and Class 4 District 15 title in 2022, then lost in the Class 4 District 15 title game in 2023 and got bounced by Oak Grove in the Class 4 District 15 semifinals in 2024.
